The LED displays the unique number of the remote identifier attached to the other end of the cable run. If it detects a short, the LED displays “SH”. When voltage is detected,”lightning 

bolts” appear. To conserve battery life, unit powers down automatically if the connection 

is not removed in approximately 2.5 minutes.
